Should i used the same CD that i have used to install the present windows xp (prfessional) or i can replace it with any other windows xp cds(windows xp pro,....)?

And what are the steps to re-install windows xp in the same drive that i had my latest one(in drive D) without losing any of other's drive files?

Hi Runny,

Assuming you have an actual operating system disk and not just a 'recovery' cd, you should be just fine; the only issue is if, upon inserting the cd, the cd doesn't autorun. In that case, you'll have to reboot the cd and hold down one of the Function keys (or Esc key) to (boot from the cd instead of the hard drive and) get the installation running (which function key to use varies, but F1 is a good one to try first). You should get the option to either do a non-destructive recovery or completely reformat and install the operating system on the drive of your choice.

The *safest* way to go is to completely disconnect the drive with the documents you want to keep, perform your re-installation on the other drive (D, right?), turn off the computer, reconnect the document drive and reboot.
