'Error loading operating system' on windows XP, what are the possible causes?

I'm installing windows xp pro sp1 on a PIII, 333Mhz, 32MB video, 40G HD. The first part was successful with the blue screen: the HD formatting, copying of windows files but when the pc RESTARTS to continue with the 2nd part of installation the message 'error loading operating system' appears, then it stops there, the GUI installation never continue, I tested the HD with other PCs and it's ok.

Does the pc needs the original OEM CD because previously it has XP installed, I just can't find its original XP cd, i'm re-installing with different cd XP. Better yet, what are other causes?

In some of the IBM laptop having the sane problem... try it with another windows XP CD..

maybe the sequence of your boot strap is not propery arranged...try to set it as 1st boot your system root or your cd rom followed by your system root...system root is your hard disc and/or hard disc partition where your windows will be installed...

if it will not work and its working in other pcs right? then change your BIOS system...
