Should I upgrade to Windows Vista from Windows XP Media Center Edition?

I need to get a new Operating System - when I looked at the price of Windows XP Pro I wondered if it would be better to get the newest version of Windows for the price.

How is Windows Vista on Service Packs and drivers? Are they getting better at working out the bugs? I figure if I'm going to have to pay that much I should get the newest model, but I don't want anymore hassles than I already have with XPMCE.

I found out XPMCE is a NIGHTMARE when working with audio software/hardware and need to switch my OS. Now I am torn I which way to go. I know XP is more reliable, but the price is a little much for an older product. I'd like the slick new Windows Vista versions but will I regret my decision? You can't download a trial from Microsoft so I can't see if it will work well on my Dell Laptop.

I also want to get rid of all the extra Dell crap on my laptop. I am fed up with all the glitches I am dealing with with my XPS.

Thanks for your reviews and comments!

hi i bought a new computer about a week ago. i did my research and was worried about getting a computer with vista. i asked questions and porbably 3/4 of people hated vista while the rest were ok with it. i bought it and im very happy i did. i had xp on the old computer and vista is great-people said it was slow...just be sure you have 2GB of memory and it should work fine, along with a good graphics card. my computer is fast and it looks AMAZING compared to xp. once you get it, youll see how old xp looks. vista is much more modern and soon, computers with xp are going to be out of date. if you have any other questions, feel free to message me :] good luck
