I am building a new high end gaming computer. I play a lot of First Person Shooters both single player and via the internet in multi-player.
I currently have been using Windows XP Pro on my system and I know it and love it. What should I do with the new system, go with XP Pro again or “upgrade” to Vista?
I am looking at Vista Ultimate 64. Will my games I love still work (Battle Field series, Half Life, DOOM and the likes, as well as WOW for MMORPG) or should I just stick with XP Pro a while longer until all the bugs are worked out of Vista?
The system I am building will be:
1000 watt power supply
Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.4 processor, over clocked
Nvida 680i core 2 quad mother board
4 GB DDR2, 1066MHZ, dual channel RAM
2 X, Nvida Gforce 8800 GTZ, 768 MB, video cards
Creative Labs Sound Blaster, X-Fi Xtreame Gamer sound card
Any and all detailed information and of course Gamer opinions are welcomed!
Gamers.... Windows XP or Vista?ie 6
Standard 32bit Windows XP, 64bit offers no performance advantages, and makes playing old DOS games much harder.
Stick with XP, less clutter, more speed.
And Finally, using SLi with two GTXs is rather expensive and unnecessary, you'd be better off spending the extra money on getting an extreme version of your CPU.
