I am trying to back up a 3 GB Outlook file with XP Pro - can windows chop the file up for my 700MB C

NO but you can try to use winrar to make it smaller, but it will never compress that far down. Why not load it back into Outlook and resave as 3 or 4 smaller PST files?

Are you leaving it on a network? That is a lot of emails 3GB.. I mean I have a PST file for 1GB but that spans 2 years of sent, Inbox etc...

I would keep the most recent stuff on the PC and then just keep the others close by on a CD.

One thing you may consider is also a DVD burner you can burn up to 4GB on a DVD.

tried to email yoiu back but email is not confirmed yet.

Yes, WINRAR for file compression, will chop it in chunks if you want.

It won't compress it enough to fit on 1 CD, but when you set it up to compress you can have it break it up in to any size chunks you want. Outlook is already a very compressed file so this won't shrink it much but will split it up.

You can even assign a password, BUT DO NOT FORGET THE PASSWORD. Write it down and place in a safety deposit box, or a safe.
