It might be asking for the network key. It's a 10 digit key setup for WEP protection on the router....even though you're "connected" and have good signal, you still need the key. Try refreshing your connections and see if that helps...it should ask you for a key.

Your laptop might be trying to connect to someone else's laptop instead of the wifi router. You can go into Control Panel in windows and click on the Network Connections icon then right click on the Wireless Connection icon and this brings up the Wireless Connection Properties window. Select the wireless networks tab and it will show a list of preferred networks. You can highlight each network in the list that your laptop connects to automatically and remove it. Close out this window and go back to view wireless networks and refresh it until you see your neighbour's network and click on it to connect and enter the correct wep or wpa key your neighbours's router is using if he has encryption enabled.
That error message can pop up if you're running IEEE 802.1x authentication, but are not actually in a 802.1x (EAP) environment.

Please goto Start --%26gt; Programs --%26gt; Accessories --%26gt; Communications --%26gt; Network Connections --%26gt; Right-click your Connection and select Properties --%26gt; Click on the Authentication tab --%26gt; Disable / uncheck the option IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network. Now, try to connect to your Wireless network; are you able to? (Note: you may need to restart the computer.)
