I booted off of my Windows XP Pro CD to get to the Recovery Console with the intent of going to a command prompt. I ended up inadvertently starting a Windows XP setup. After the setup said it was copying files to an installation folder, it rebooted the computer. I removed the installation CD just after the reboot to try to stop the reinstallation. Now, the computer boots to a setup screen every time (the one saying XX minutes remaining) and asks me to insert the setup CD. I cannot get to safe mode since I get a message saying that Windows XP setup cannot be run in safe mode.
At this point, would Windows still be intact if the installation were cancelled at this point? Or is my only option to continue with the reinstallation? If I can cancel and have Windows just the way it was an hour ago, please let me know.
Thanks for your help.
