Help with windows xp installation?

i hav just installed a 'copy' of windows xp pro sp 2 on my pc, and its now asking to activate my copy of windows, i tried doing it over thr net but it says the product key has been used too many times. how do i bypass this process? or at least could someone point me in the direction of someone who can help, thanx.

You're going to have to call microsoft at the number that's listed on the activation sceen. I've had to do it before too. Just tell them you upgraded your motherboard or that you just had to re-install because thier product is unreliable after about a month of use :)

call the number, should be all automatted now anyways. so just say you changed your motherboard or something and everything should work just fine.
You can only activate Windows XP ten times over the internet (unless you you made some major hardware upgrades, then it is even less). Just do a phone activation, there should be a button asking you to activate by phone, click it and it will give you the 800 number as well as a long series of numbers that you will have to punch into the phone, then you will get an equally long series of number to enter into the blank boxes. Just follow the prompts, very self explanatory.
