it's not possible to password folders in XP but what you can do is password your account then open my computer double click on the hard disk icon then double click on the documents and settings folder you'll see a folder with you user name on it right click on it pick properties then click the sharing tab put a tick in make this folder private when it asks if you want to make sub folder private pick yes now no on can access you folders
by the way you'll need your file system to be NTFS for this to work

How can I password protect a folder in Windows XP Pro?windows xp sp2 internet explorer
Two options...right click the folder and click properties. On the first tab there are two boxes labeled "read only" and "hidden"
Check the "hidden" box and finish. Now go to tools - folder options. On the viewing tab their is an option to view hidden system files - uncheck it. It isn't a password, but noone will see it should they access you system.
Also, Compress the folder into a .zip format - it will prompt you if you want password acces to the folder.
or you can go to a site that has freeware (www.download.com) They usually have a few free programs for download in the utilities that should work for you.
If u want to protect a folder then you can click to a folder and click on properties and under sharing tab u must tick on "make this private" so no other user can open your folder...
Otherwise i recommend you to use sum other software...i am using Universal shield and Lock Folder ....they are very good and they can even protect any files or drives if want to lock them....
hope that helps....cheers
