Need help installing windows XP from 2000 Pro....????????

I keep getting the error message: your current version of windows is not a supported upgrade path. what does this mean and how can i fix it? I have the XP home upgrade cd and cd-key. any ideas? thanks for helping me!

This is telling you that you can't upgrade from Win2K to XP. If you're sure you've copied all the data off of that hard drive, and it's a full copy of XP on the CD, then I'd recommend you reformat the hard drive completely and reinstall XP that way.



If you've been sold an upgrade CD instead, time to go back to the retailer and demand your money back.

They are not compatible youcan't install it. go to microsoft online with your question to know the correct version that can be used to update your 2000 pro
hi you nead to store everything photos etc ,then format the drive buy getting the xp home disk %26gt;boot from disk %26gt;deliete all partions RAW "dont use the quick format" , but fist get into the bios %26gt;boot menu set the 1st boot dvd/cd 2nd to hdd change back when windows is in stalled.



you cant put windows XP home on top of pro or $nt$ you have to scub the drive TO ntfs not fat32
