Boot your Windows XP in safe mode.

Open Windows Explore, select drive where DiskReadError appear, right click to select properties, go to "Tools" tab, Click "Check now", Check the "Automatically fix file system errors " and also Check the "Scan for and attempt recovery of Bad Sectors". Click Start. And reboot the Windows. Let it Scandisk your HDD. This should be work.
