How do you uninstall a program that isn't installed in windows xp pro?

i am trying to install a program but everytime i try to install it it asks me whether i want to uninstall it and all it's components.

it's showing in add and remove software but wont uninstall, it goes through the motions but remains there, it doesn't show in device manager, registry, or anywhere in program files or system files. i have tried to download the program instead of using installation disc but have the same problem, it gets so far and then wants to uninstall.

has anyone any idea where the little bugger is hiding as it doesn't show in any searches.

the program is Pheenet wifi booster, even they can't help me

thanks in advance

If it's remaining in the Add/Remove programs list after apparently uninstalling, and then won't let you uninstall it, because it can't find uninstall information, and hence won't let you install either, You could try looking here in the registry (for WinXP):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Everything listed in your add/remove programs should be there - I know I used to have to go in there to remove some entries for programs that refused to uninstall properly.

I thought that SP2 however gave you an option to remove it, if it had trouble uninstalling.

What O/S are you using?

Is it compatible with your OS? You can try uninstall it and install it again. Or if it asks for uninstall, just cancel it. Or else contact their technical support.
