i.g. I have a file named blah.html and I want to edit it via right-clicking and selecting 'edit.' by default it opens up in Microsoft Word. I don't want this. I want to open the file using a different application. BUT when I double left click it I still want it to open up via it's selected browser. Ergo I cannot change the "right-click -%26gt; Open With -%26gt; Choose Program" route.
How to change the default "edit" option when right-clicking in Windows XP Pro.?microsoft word 2003
You should be able to change the action for "Edit" via the File Types menu:
1. In Windows Explorer. select the Tools-%26gt;Folder Options menu item.
2. Click the File types tab.
3. Click the Extensions column header to sort the entries by file extension
4. Find the entry for HTML files.
5. Click the Advanced button.
6. Click the Edit entry.
7. Click the Edit button. This will leave the Open entry as it was.
8. In the Application to Perform Action, enter the full path and filename of the application you want.
9. OK out of everything.
Hope that helps.
